One of the fundamental calls to Catholics during Lent, along with prayer and abstinence, is almsgiving. This year the Tanzania Committee at Christ the King will be distributing small cartons during Ash Wednesday services and at Mass during the first Sunday of Lent, for you to take home and collect your change or other offerings during the 40 days of Lent.
Money collected from these cartons will be sent to Saint Francis of Assisi Primary School for Able and Disabled Children in the Diocese of Moshi, Tanzania. Funds will be used for a variety of programs at the school. In the past, Christ the King parishioners have helped the school with school supplies, sports equipment, academic tools for the blind among many other needs.
Cartons can be returned to Christ the King during Holy Week, Easter Sunday or anytime soon after. Additional cartons can be requested from Tanzania Committee members.
