As members of the Respect Life Committee at Christ the King parish, we affirm that human life is a gift from God and, therefore, must be respected and protected at every stage and in every condition. We support the statement of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops that, “the right to life is the first and most fundamental principle of human rights” (www.usccb.org).
Our model and patron saint is Saint Gianna Beretta Molla (October 4, 1922 – April 28, 1962), an Italian pediatrician, wife, and mother who is best known for refusing both an abortion and a hysterectomy when she was pregnant with her fourth child, despite knowing that continuing with the pregnancy could result in her death.
Her heroism is an inspiration for our activities that include: hosting educational talks on Pro-Life and End-of-Life issues, providing resources and information, the Baby Bottle and diaper drives, the Spiritual Adoption program, participation in the 40 Days for Life prayer campaign and the Midwest March for Life, and Memorial Masses for the Unborn. With great joy, the Memorial Garden for the Unborn was completed in 2014. All are welcome here to pray and to reflect on the dignity and value of all human life.
