Christ the King is a vibrant parish today! But what about the future? Will Christ the King Parish be what it is today 10, 20 or 30 years from now? Since we can’t predict the future, we have to prepare for it. Thus, Christ the King Foundation was formed.
The Foundation, formerly the “Planned Giving Fund” was established in the mid 1990s when a group of parishioners, concerned about the future of the parish, set out to investigate the options that would meet the future financial needs of the parish.
The mission of the foundation is to provide and maintain a Christ-centered environment for our Parish and its ministries.
This includes the enhancement and support of the formational opportunities as well as financing new initiatives to assist all parishioners in their intellectual and spiritual development.
Today our Foundation has over $750,000.00 in restricted assets, which generates approximately $12,000 in investment revenue each year. The investment revenue is used totally and exclusively for Christ the King Parish ministries and outreach programs which are not funded by normal tithing. This past year the Foundation has provided funds to the Library, Youth Ministry, St. Vincent de Paul, Tanzania Project, The Catalyst Project – Millenials, and the Totus Tuus Summer Camp.
What is a Foundation?
A Foundation is a means to set aside monies in an investment portfolio providing investment income with retaining the principal for a continued source of income.
How is it funded?
The Foundation is funded through contributions from parishioners. The Foundation incorporates many kinds of gifts.
Who benefits from the Foundation?
It is the intent of the foundation that since this fund is to be used totally and exclusively for Christ the King Parish and since this fund is established in perpetuity, no outside entity, person, or corporation shall be able to appropriate any part of the fund , or its interest or the fund in its totality. Grants that have been given in the past have gone to the Library, School, Youth Program, St. Vincent de Paul and some of the Parish outreach programs.
How are the funds managed?
Christ the King Parish Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors (who are active members of the Parish) and its Pastor. The funds collected are set up in an investment portfolio that is managed by an investment firm reporting directly to the Treasurer of the Foundation and the Pastor.
